Dr. Nkechi Eugenia Irechukwu, the Director, Centre for Gender and Entrepreneurship (CGE), KIM University,Kigali Rwanda, led a team of students under the Centre to participate in a video conference organized by Ideas for Action (I4A), a World Bank Group in Washington D.C., United States.
I4A tries to elicit articulated ideas from young minds and conducts global competitions.Winners of the competition present their ideas during the IMF & World Bank Annual Meetings, receive support from a dedicated start-up accelerator and benefit from unique networking opportunities with other young leaders as well as some of the most senior decision-makers in international development, academia, and the private sector.
During the video conference, the requirements for the proposal were detailed. The competitive process is global, impartial and objective. Quality proposals win on merit and thematic priority is general. The students were also given opportunity to see and listen to the testimonies of the two top winners of 2017 competition from Nigeria (Emeka) and Uganda (Andrew), interact with them and posed further questions for clarification to I4A and the top winners.
The deadline for 2018 proposal submission is February 28, 2018. Mr Rogers Kayihura, the External and Corporate Relations (ECR), World Bank Group, Rwanda encouraged the students to see idea generation and proposal writing not as a rocket science, but, embrace it as something that can be done.
KIM University students will leverage upon this opportunity and creative insight to produce quality proposals with unique ideas for competitive advantage having disruptive and innovative thinking to provide practical and scalable economic, societal and environmental solutions that lead to sustainable development nationally and internationally.
