Welcome to the School of Postgraduate Studies (SPS). The School of Postgraduate Studies (SPS) was established in January 2016 to provide strategic planning and vision for graduate education at KIM University. The SPS was also to provide quality control for all aspects of graduate education including but not limited to research, and formulate policies and standards that define good practices in graduate programmes.
The World Summit for Social Development (Copenhagen 1995) defines an inclusive society as a “society for all in which every individual, each with rights and responsibilities, has an active role to play”.
Though there has been some progress on bringing about social inclusion in the world, there is still a lot left to be done especially when we are talking about developing countries like Rwanda. Therefore, it is imperative for Rwanda to focus on bringing about an inclusive development if it is to reap the true benefits of economic growth. This economic growth is being driven by the working population of the country which includes the youth.
This clearly epitomizes the role of students and more importantly MBA students to participate in nation building and work towards creating an inclusive society. The demand for MBA education has increased tremendously over the recent years with an MBA qualification being seen as a passport for a managerial job. An MBA degree complements professional experience and enables the holder to command a higher salary. MBAs can create a positive impact on the society as they have the requisite resources and avenues. To achieve this goal, KIM University strives to create MBAs who have a strong social commitment. In KIM University, we not only train students to think like entrepreneurs, but also find lasting solutions to the problems and challenges facing the society. The current socio-economic conditions require competent managers to create building blocks for achieving inclusiveness to complement the work being done by the government and other stakeholders.
Our MBA programme is tailored toward fostering transformational learning and industrial research for business leaders to align with the Economic Development & Poverty Reduction Strategy(EDPRS II) for 2013-2018, and Vision 2050 informed by the global commitments; the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); Paris Declaration on Climate Change (2030); Addis Ababa Action Agenda on Financing for Development (2030); and the African Community Vision Agenda (2030); and the African Union Agenda (2063)Coordination Mechanism for Human Capital Development Leaders and Managers Spearheading for Enterprising Knowledge-Based Society for Developing Countries Through provision of knowledge and skills, action and reflection, we develop our students to lead, innovate and flourish.
As the late Steve Jobs rightly put it, “Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower”. We at KIM University believe that quality leadership and innovation are the pillars to a strong and vibrant economy. Thank you for your continued moral support.
